INFORMATIONS ON THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DENTURES (ARTIFICIAL TEETH & GUMS)

What are dentures?
Dentures are artificial teeth and gums that are formed to your mouth and created by your dentists to replace lost or removed natural teeth. Dentures can either be full or partial, meaning they can either replace all teeth on either the top or bottom gum line, or just a few that are missing. Regardless of what kind of dentures you may need, they will be custom designed to fit your mouth, and visually matched to your existing teeth.

What are they made out of?

In the past, the artificial teeth that make up dentures were made out of porcelain or plastic, but more modern dentures are generally made out of a hard resin. The materials used to make denture teeth are known to be more fragile than natural teeth and can easily chip or crack if dropped or otherwise uncared for. This material also wears down much quicker than natural teeth and thus must be replaced with a new set of dentures every five years or so.

INFORMATIONS ON THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DENTURES (ARTIFICIAL TEETH & GUMS)

The supporting structure of dentures that holds the artificial teeth in place and resembles the natural gum line is often made out of a similar resin used for the teeth, or a more flexible polymer material that fits snugly on the natural gum line.

Why wear dentures?

Dentures not only improve the appearance of a smile that has multiple missing teeth, but they also keep the structure of the mouth sound by supporting the structures around the cheeks and lips.

Dentures also make it possible to eat foods that require chewing, making it possible to keep your diet the same and ensure that you are properly nourished. Lastly, dentures are a viable solution to replace teeth that are causing serious pain and oral health issues, such as those with rotted roots or severe damage. Having dentures fitted means that troublesome teeth are eliminated and replaced with a strong and beautiful alternative.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are often used instead of other tooth replacement methods when the surrounding natural teeth are not strong enough to support structures such as dental bridges, or when more than one or two teeth are missing.

The partial dentures are fitted to the part of the gum line that they will sit on, and fasten to nearby natural teeth to keep from falling out of place. They are not permanently fastened, however, and can be easily taken out at any time for cleaning and while sleeping.

Full dentures

Full dentures, otherwise known as complete dentures, are dentures that replace all of your natural teeth. You can have them fitted for your top or bottom gum line, and are held in place by suction and/or the help of an oral adhesive. Just like partial dentures, they are easily removable.

How to clean dentures

Regardless of what kind of dentures you may have, all dentures need to be cleaned daily, just like regular teeth. Even though dentures are made up of artificial teeth, bacteria, plaque, and tartar still build up on them and can harm existing teeth and gums.

To clean your dentures, take them out of your mouth and run clean water over them to dislodge any food particles that may be stuck between teeth, along the gum line, or underneath the structure. Then brush the dentures all over with a denture brush or very soft toothbrush using a mild soap or denture cleaner. Be sure not to use any other cleaners, regular toothpaste, or electric toothbrushes as these are all too abrasive and can damage and wear away the denture materials. After cleaning, make sure to rinse them well.

While your dentures are out of your mouth, be sure to clean your gums and any natural teeth with a very soft and wet toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste if needed. If your toothbrush is too harsh, wrap your finger in a wet, soft washcloth and gently rub your gums, making sure to cover all surfaces.

Preserving your dentures
Always remove your dentures before sleeping to avoid damaging them, dislodging them, and to give your gums some time to relax. Submerge your dentures fully in warm, but not hot, water to keep them from drying out and becoming misshapen. Only use denture soaking solution if your dentures do not have metal components as the solution can tarnish the metal.

9 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE USING ESSENTIAL OILS 32

Essential oils are basically oils containing the concentrated form or the essence of a plant from which it is obtained. They are usually extracted through distillation or mechanical pressing. As a result of it’s many beneficial properties, they have become widely used and with up to 600 types of them available for sale.

A common misconception is that natural products are safe, a lot of people feel safe using organic products forgetting that they are chemicals too, and should take precautions while using them.
For the most part, essential oils are considered safe when used rightly. In using them, however, one must take certain precautions in order to avoid certain side effects such as:
• A rash
• Headaches
• Allergic reactions and more.
Undoubtedly, one of the ways we like to use essential oils is to incorporate them into our skincare routine.

Skincare benefits of essential oils include:

• Boosting collagen production
• Alleviating oily skin issues
• Anti-inflammatory properties
• Antibiotic properties

However, before using essential oils for skincare, there are things you should bear in mind.

1. DILUTE WITH A CARRIER OIL.

The first safety top to consider before using essential oils is never to rub them on your skin directly.
Always dilute your oils before use to prevent issues such as an adverse reaction to it. These oils are highly concentrated and volatile and this is where carrier oils come into play. They aid the absorption of essential oils into your skin, help spread your essential oils over a large area of your body while also preventing quick evaporation.

In fact, with carrier oils, you will be getting the most out of your essential oils. If you’re not sure about how the right way to dilute your essential oils before use, follow this tip:

1 teaspoon of carrier oil for one drop of essential oil gives 1% dilution.

2. INCREASE YOUR RISK OF GETTING SUNBURNED

Essential oils such as lemon oils, grapefruit oils, orange oils, mandarin oils, rue oils, bergamot oil, and fig leaf oil increases your chances of getting sun burned because they increase your skin’s sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) light .
Asides from getting sunburned, you can also get blisters and redness of skin along with other effects that might not be visible until after a few days.

3. PREGNANCY

Caution must be observed before using essential oils in pregnancy. Due to the fact that your body absorbs essential oils and they may cross your placenta to your fetus, serious harm can be done to your developing baby.

In order to avoid uterine contractions or other adverse effects, experts recommend not using essential oils in your first trimester as your baby is still in it’s early stage of development. Some essential oils are, however, safe to use in the 2nd and 3rd trimester and these include: lavender, chamomile and ylang ylang essential oils. Other oils like rosemary, cinnamon and clove should be used in caution.
We recommend that before you use essential oils in pregnancy, consult your healthcare provider.

4. INGESTION

Many unanswered questions revolve around whether essential oils are safe to ingest. Like has already been established, these oils are very concentrated and can cause you to overdose without realizing which can in turn cause systemic toxicity.
One fact that experts agree upon is that essential oils can cause irritation to the mucous membrane tissues. Taking them orally can burn your mouth, down to your gut lining and even beyond your digestive tract.

Ingestion can also cause other adverse effects like stomach pain, nausea, numbness and neurological discomfort. Before Ingesting any essential oil, make sure it’s under the supervision of a trained expert.

5. CHILDREN

It has been established that natural does not mean safe and as such, using essential oils for skincare issues in children without proper precautions is not safe either. Children have thinner skin than adults and do not have a fully developed immune system.

Before using any essential oil for children, make sure that it is properly diluted even though some experts warn against using them at all.
Avoid using these essential oils on kids: pepper mint, rosemary and winter green oils.

6. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE

Extreme caution should be taken when disposing of essential oils or spilling them. Their bottles cannot be recycled unless the oil is washed off.

All essential oils are considered flammable but some are even more so. These include: teatree oil, lavender oil and citrus oil.
When disposing of an essential oil bottle, it is advisable you trash them or you use it with a passive diffuser.

7. DO A PATCH TEST

To make sure you don’t get an allergic reaction from using essential oil, a patch test is recommended before use.
To do this, dilute a drop of your oil with a teaspoon of carrier oil and rub on the inside of your arm. Wait for at least 24 hours to see if you’ll get an allergy.

8. AVIOD SENSITIVE AREAS

When using essential oils for skincare purposes, make sure to stay away from sensitive areas such as the eyes and ears as they can be greatly irritated.

9. PURITY

One major factor to consider before buying essential oils is their purity. You want to make sure what you’re buying is of good quality and worth your money.
To test the purity of an essential oil, put a drop of oil on a piece of what paper and watch out for a stain. Pure essential oils will not leave a stain as that only means dilution with a carrier oil. Pure essential oils should evaporate.
To maintain the purity of your oil, store in tightly closed and dark coloured containers in a cool place.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KEEP TO YOURSELF AND SHOULDN'T TELL YOUR PARTNER 34

THINGS YOU SHOULD KEEP TO YOURSELF AND SHOULDN’T TELL YOUR PARTNER – ZIGIHOW.COM.NG

Being in love with a girl and starting up a relationship is a wonderful thing. Long term relationships are usually based on love, trust and honesty. Even if honesty is very important in a relationship, sometimes may be hurtful. There are some things you shouldn’t tell your partner because it may hurt her or make her change the opinion about you.

Even if you love her very much and you are getting close, these things can affect your relationship and should be kept in secret. Sometimes you can best show her your love by keeping your mouth shut. So, before you start telling her somethings, you should look at these things that may destroy your relationship.

Never tell her if your family doesn’t like her

Even if your family dislike her, it is better to not tell her because she will get angry and insecure. This will create future problems and tension between her and your family. If you truly love her, all you can do is to let your family know that she is the one you have chosen, and they have to respect your decision. Try to make them change their minds about her.

Never tell her she is getting fat

Even if this is true, please don’t tell her this. It will make her feel very bad and she will think that you don’t like her anymore. Think about how she would feel, and you can say: ” honey, let try to lose a little weight ”. Let her decide when is the time to lose weight because she will do it without you hurting her.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KEEP TO YOURSELF AND SHOULDN'T TELL YOUR PARTNER - ZIGIHOW.COM.NG

Don’t criticize her when she is trying to do her best

This is the worst thing you can do. If she sees that she is trying hard to do the things fine and you begin criticizing her, she would feel disappointed that you don’t know to appreciate her for the fact that she is trying her best. So, you should get over it, and you can help her in doing that job. Maybe next time she’ll be doing better.

Don’t tell her how your mother would have done things

I know that for men their mothers always represent a model in life, but we must admit that all the families are different. So, we have been raised by different kinds of parents and in different ways of life. Everyone is taught to do things in their ways and that’s why you can’t ask your girlfriend to do things or to live like your mother. A woman can have her views and opinions, and all you can do about this is to tell her stories about how you were raised and how things have been done in your family. You should adapt at this new way of life, without comparing her with your mom.

Don’t remind her about your ex in a special moment

Never ever compare your dating nights or things you do together with the ones you have done with your ex, don’t remind her that. It is a hurtful thing for her to see that you are still thinking about the other.

Don’t tell her some bad things you have done in the past

If she doesn’t find out already, you better keep your mouth shut; it is in your favor. If you tell her that you have cheated your past girlfriends, for example, she will have a totally bad opinion about you, and fell disappointed. So, these things you shouldn’t disclose.

Never tell her that a football game is more important for you than her.

Even if is an important game, don’t tell her to let you alone in that moment because you are busy and don’t have time for her. You better smile and pretend that you are listening to her too and try to catch the key words. She might ask you one or two things to test you.

Don’t ask her to relax when she is very angry

When she is very upset, scared, or very angry the worst thing you can do is to ask her to relax. This will make her angrier because she will think that you don’t take her serious. If you upset her by doing some bad things, and you just tell her to relax, she will fell that you are denying that there is a reason to be upset.
Don’t tell her that you are insecure

In a relationship or dating woman is looking after a strong and confident man. So, if you are insecure, or you are jealous on her because, for example, she has a better salary than yours, you have to keep this aspect just for yourself.

Don’t declare your love during a fight

The words ‘‘I love you ‘‘mean a lot for a woman that’s why it should be said at the right moment. But most of guys say this during a fight. She doesn’t believe a word in what you say because she considers that if you really loved her you wouldn’t upset her. You may say you love her but only after your fight is over.

Do not tell her that you like her girlfriend

Maybe one of her girlfriends is very beautiful and you like her so much, please your partner shouldn’t find out this. If you say that her best friends look very good and you like her, she will feel hurt, angry and will never trust you around her friends. So, keep it to yourself.

If you want to have a long and strong relationship you shouldn’t permit or say some things that can destroy it to your partner. Don’t be completely honest about the things which should not be told.
